Expert Cell Phone Advice From Our Editors
There's no better time than this summer to give dad and grads a gift they can really use: A hot new smartphone. Nearly all cell phones do more than simply make calls: They let you check e-mail, surf the Web, play MP3s, and--in some cases--edit documents. The popular Apple iPhone 3G will be getting a refresh this summer with new software and look. But the iPhone has some tough competition from the highly-anticipated Palm Pre. The Pre has a touchscreen, slide-out QWERTY keyboard and runs the silky new webOS platform. The G2, the follow-up to T-Mobile's Android-based G1, will also make waves in the mobile world this summer with its huge touchscreen and customizable interface. Looking for an easy way to access your e-mail while on the go? Messaging powerhouses BlackBerry Bold and touchscreen BlackBerry Storm are already available, but Research In Motion is expected to announce more models in June. And Windows Mobile fans not only get an upgraded OS this summer (Windows Mobile 6.5), but some pretty cool phones to go with it, like the HTC Touch Pro 2. Even a basic, cheap (or free) phone that you get for signing a contract with a cellular carrier will offer some bells and whistles. So you don't have to spend a lot to get a lot.Top Ranked Cell Phones
